B-Series Final Drive Install - Geared Up - Wrenchin'
|
Set the mainshaft aside and clamp the countershaft assembly in a bench vise between two wood blocks. Raise the countershaft's locknut tab from its groove and remove the locknut and spring washer. Use a bearing puller to remove the ball bearing from its underside, softly tapping it with a rubber mallet until it comes loose. Next, remove the bearing's outer race and the needle bearing, also with the bearing puller. Lightly tap the gears with a rubber mallet to loosen them up and remove them. Lay everything face down, one after the other, in order of removal, and don't mix anything up. With the countershaft completely bare, swap it out for the MFactory piece and reinstall the gears and bearings in the reverse order. Tighten the lock nut to 80 lb-ft of torque and re-tap the lock nut tab back into its groove. View Related Article
