Scratch That ItchI own a '95 Civic EX and plan to build an engine over the next year, either an H22 or B20. Both have great potential, so it's a tough choice. In the meantime, I have the itch to upgrade my stock D-series (IHE - the usual). Would any of these parts be usable on an H22, B20 or even B18, or would it be a waste of money?Justin
Not very many parts from a D-series will bolt onto a B-series, and even less to an H. Two of the three parts you asked about can be used on any of the three motors. Most short-ram-style intakes will work universally in a Civic with almost any motor in it. The exhaust will also work, but you'll want to size it according to the motor you plan to swap in. Your D-series might be really happy with a 2.25-inch exhaust, but the B and the H probably need a 2.5 to 2.75-inch system.
A D-series header will not swap onto a B- or H- motor. The flange and port styles of the three heads are completely different. Try looking for a used one for the D series. For the price-roughly $100-you can justify buying it for a year. - Dr Barrios
ConfusedI own a '95 Civic Si and want to turbocharge it. Would a CT26 turbo fit?Dzemal
The short answer is yes. A CT26 could work just fine for your D16Z6. But you'll also need the following: turbo manifold, downpipe, wastegate (unless it's internal), charge piping, intercooler, blow-off valve, oil lines (feed and return) and fuel management.
You'll need to buy or fabricate the rest of the setup. If building your own turbo setup is out of the question, check out some of the bolt-on kits produced by GReddy, A'PEXi, RevHard, Edelbrock and Full Race. That way you don't have to put a Toyota turbo on your Honda (blasphemy). - DB
LS LuxuriesI have a '98 Civic EX manual and spun a rod in the factory D16Y8 motor. I already have a '94 Acura Integra LS motor (B18B1) and am in the process of installing it. I want to keep my A/C and heard I needed an A/C mount from a del Sol. What else do I need as far as motor mounts, shift linkage and wiring before I can complete the swap?Josh
You can keep your A/C in one of two ways. You could use any B-series A/C bracket with a B-series compressor, but then you'll have to discharge the A/C system, which sucks. The P54 del Sol VTEC bracket will allow you to retain the D-series compressor so it doesn't need to be discharged at all. If the P54 bracket is hard to find, try a P7J bracket from a CRV.
The rest of the swap is straightforward. We recommend a set of billet mounts from Arizona Race Machine or Hasport. They're stiffer and far better suited for a performance application than OEM mounts. If money is tight, you'll need to pick up a rear mount and upper driver's-side engine bracket (the cast one) from a '99-'00 Civic Si.
The torque mounts can be used from any '94-and-up B-series. You'll also need to get a shift linkage from an Si or Integra. As far as we know, the del Sol linkage will not work.
There isn't much wiring modification. You'll need to change the IACV and crank sensor plugs from three-wire to two-wire and lengthen a few wires here and there. Everything else will plug right in. - DB
