The inner CV joints should be equipped with spring clips that lock the shafts to the diff (or in this case, a solid spool) or the intermediate shaft. Once the inner ends of the shafts are connected, a light coat of grease is applied to the splines of the outer joints and the axle stub is attached to the hub/knuckle assembly. View Related Article
