Sales Are Down-Why Not Buy A New Honda?
American Honda posted its May total vehicle sales, and surprise, surprise-sales are down. With a nationwide decline of 39.2 percent-compared to all-time record-setting sales in May 2008, the figures represent a 33.3 percent decrease on a daily-selling-rate basis compared to last year.
The all-new Insight hybrid however, posted sales of 2,780, which helped Honda drive a 7.5 percent increase in total Honda hybrid sales.
"May of 2008 was the best month ever for American Honda, as consumers sought fuel-efficient cars in record numbers," said John Mendel, executive vice president of sales for American Honda. "Staying true to the course of providing fuel- efficient, high-quality, fun-to-drive vehicles will hopefully help see us through to the economic recovery."
Overall total car sales decreased by 48.9 percent, to 51,947 units sold, so the time has never been better to get out and support your local dealer by buying a new Honda. You know you want one anyway, so why not?

The Insight
The all-new Insight features a sleek, futuristic look that any Prius owner would envy. The electric motor, positioned inline between the engine and the continuously variable transmission, adds power during acceleration and in certain cruising situations, and recaptures energy from the vehicle's forward momentum during braking.
The Insight starts a new trend with its Ecological Drive Assist System, which helps an incredible amount with fuel economy. Eco Assist also provides driving style recommendations via a 3D background within the speedometer that changes color to reflect how efficiently the driver is accelerating and braking.
