Bolts&WashersBrett Kordenbrock's 1993 Civic Hatchback DxPropulsionBrett gets the party started with a 1995 LS Block/B16A2 head Frankenstein combination. Internals consist of Eagle H-Beam rods and JE 9:1 pistons housed in Golden Eagle HD cylinder sleeves. The rotating assembly was balanced and blueprinted by D&D Race Engines.
The VTEC head flexes JUN dual valvesprings and retainers, a five-angle valve job by Raceline Tuning, a Kordenbrock Motorsports (KMS) VTEC Eliminator Kit, 1994 GSR cams, an STR Cam cap seal, and AEM cam gears. Pressurization is handled by a One-Fab Type-One turbo manifold that secures a Precision SC61 turbo (.63 A/R turbine and .60 A/R compressor). The remainder of the turbo system is made up of a JG intake manifold, a JG 70mm Throttle Body, a GM 3-bar Map sensor, a Tial 40mm wastegate with dump by KMS, a Tial 50mm blow-off valve, a GM Cyclone boost control solenoid, Street Imports FMIC with Nitrous Express intercooler chiller, KMS 2.5-inch intercooler piping, a Thermal 3-inch Turbo Exhaust and a KMS 3-inch downpipe w/DEI exhaust wrap. Other tidbits include a C&R Radiator with a SPAL Slim-Line fan, Hasport 'Street' mounts, a Cometic LS/VTEC head gasket, Hondata intake-manifold gasket, ARP head studs and Moroso oil pan.
Fuel for the fire is provided by a Walbro 255lph in-tank fuel pump, Precision 880cc/min injectors, an AEM fuel regulator, an AEM fuel rail with Earl's fittings and braided lines.
On the ignition side, the Civic relies on a MSD Blaster SS coil and MSD 8.5mm wires.
To keep it all together during full-boost launches, the Civic has been equipped with a 1995 Integra GSR transmission and OBX limited-slip differential (Thanks to GMP Welding), and a Competition Clutch twin-disc clutch and Driveshaft Shop Stage I axles.
StanceBrett is running NEX full coilovers in accord with a Password JDM front strut-tower bar, a Tanabe rear strut-tower bar, a KMS lower-rear stabilizer bar, aluminum rear-lower control arms, an Ingall's rear camber kit and KMS traction bars.
ResistanceStopping power has been enhanced with a GSR rear disc conversion (Type R master cylinder, booster and del Sol Si proportioning valve) accented with Goodridge braided brake lines.
Rims & RubberRolling stock is a decidedly Jeckyl and Hyde proposition; 15-inch Nippon Racing five spokes with Kumho Ecsta MX rubber for the street and BFGoodrich Drag Radials (rear) on 14x6 Diamond Racing wheels with Mickey Thompson 20X8X14 slicks (front) for the strip.
FashionOutside: The exterior mods are well balanced but not overly subdued. The Civic sports a EG6 front lip, Password JDM-sourced EG6 City Lights and amber corners, VIS carbon fiber hood and fresh Milano-Red paintInside: An updated EG6 gauge cluster is joined by an AEM EMS w/UEGO controller, Auto Meter Ultra-Lite gauges (EGT, Oil Pressure, Water Temp, Volts, Boost), a Code Alarm w/keyless entry and a GReddy turbo timer. A pair of 2000 Civic Si seats are framed by an Art Morrison 6-point rollbar.
I.C.E.Pioneer head unit, Pioneer speakers and Bass Tube (custom fitted box). A Code Alarm system w/keyless entry deters haters.
