Although he's pulled 207.6 out of the motor on the dyno, Mozaffarian backed it off to 204.6 to compensate for temperature fluctuations. Temps increase around 10 degrees from the start of a session to the end of the day. "We added five percent fuel across the board to keep it safe and lost a little horsepower, but didn't lose any torque."
He may not have lost torque, but Mozaffarian's bank account has lost its weight. He estimates he's sunk about $35,000 into the car, but doesn't regret a penny of it (well, perhaps the oil pan part). And he's not done. There's additional work to be done dialing in corner balancing and weight distribution. Mark says the Rex is about 65/35 and wants it closer to 60/40. There's also a 12-point chrome-moly cage in the future.
Now that you're sitting there with visions of that CRX or EF hatch you saw around town the other day, the one that would be perfect for your weekend warrior track-attack sensibilities, just remember that we tried to warn you.

Propulsion
Stuffed inside the B18C1 bottom end are B16A-spec pistons connected to factory rods and crankshaft. Up top in the Port Flow-polished head Skunk2 Stage II camshafts manipulate Type-R valves, and Skunk2 springs and retainers.
The engine inhales through a factory airbox equipped with K&N drop-in filter and ASC intake pipe feeding a JG Edelbrock throttle body and ported Skunk2 intake manifold. The hot side dumps into a Type-R header flowing out through an ASC 70mm stainless exhaust.
A Walbro fuel pump draws from a 12-gallon Fuel Safe Enduro cell (secured with ASC mounting brackets) and delivers fuel through Earl's lines and inline filter into an AEM fuel rail and RC Engineering 310cc injectors. NGK plugs set the mixture alight and Sun ground wires insure maximum current draw. A P28 ECU and Hondata S100 manage the maps.
Regulating engine temps is an ASC/Koyo radiator, dual FAL 12-inch fans, AEBS/Meziere water pump and Earl's lines/hoses.
Hasport mounts and an ASC engine dampener secure the engine to its chassis.
Putting down the power is a '99 Civic Type-R transmission with '89 Integra axles and a 4.79 final drive. An ACT six-puck unsprung ceramic clutch works with an Exedy flywheel to provide the shifts, while a Quaife limited-slip distributes torque.
Evidence
204.6 hp at 8055 rpm; 149.5 lb-ft of torque at 5800 rpm
Stance
JIC FLT-A2 RS coil-overs help manage the corners, with spring rates set at 16kg/mm (front) and 18kg/mm (rear). The bushings were ditched in favor of chrome-moly heim joints with -3 degrees camber front and rear. The rest of the suspension reads straight from the ASC catalog: ASC lower control arms with heim joints; rear trailing arms; front traction rod, front and rear lower tie bars, brake booster brace, and front and rear upper strut tower bracing.
An ASC six-point roll cage with black powder coat further stiffens the chassis and adds protection.
Resistance
Up front are Brembo 313mm drilled/slotted rotors, clamped down upon by a four-piston Brembo calipers up front and rebuilt GSR calipers in the rear. Pagid R42 pads provide the bite up front while EBC Red Stuff handles the back. The master cylinder and proportioning valve come from a '98 Integra Type R, with Motul 600 fluid flowing through Goodridge lines.
Rims & Rubber
Volk TE37s never go out of style and these 16x7-inch bronze pieces are no exception. Wrapped with Falken Azenis RTs sized at 215/45ZR-16, the 4x100 TEs are offset 38mm up front, 42mm in back, and attach to GS-R front knuckle assemblies. ARP extended studs and Koyokugen black open-end lug nuts finish off the rolling stock.
Fashion
Body: Pretty stock except for a Fiber Images SiR hood, PIAA Super White headlight bulbs and MIS clear bra.
Inside: It's a Sparco fest, anchored by Evo seats, brackets (modified by ASC), harnesses, black suede Ring steering wheel and quick-release hub, and pedals. Other touches include factory gauge cluster sourced from the U.K., Skunk2 shift knob atop an Integra short-shifter, dual Halon fire extinguishers attached with ASC mounts, and Autopower camcorder mount.
