Loi Song's 2004 S2000
Propulsion
The '04 S2000 benefited from a variety of changes, namely under the hood. A new stroked 2.2-liter powerplant replaced the 2.0-liter, bumping compression up .1 for an 11.1:1 ratio, delivering the same power but 500 rpm sooner. Torque also increased 9 lb-ft and comes 1000 rpm sooner. The result: 240 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque. When combined with the S2000's six-speed, close-ratio transmission, the S2000 is hard to match.
Upgrades for Song's F22C1 are few. Incoming air is encouraged via a Spoon Sports carbon fiber air duct and drop-in filter accompanied by the company's 70mm throttle body. Spoon also handles spent exhaust gases with their 4-2-1 exhaust manifold and N1 exhaust system.
Rims & Rubber
The S2000 rolls on 18x7 Work Emotion rims up front and 18x8s out back. The offset was altered to +42 and +45 for the front and rear, respectively, widening the S2000's stance and improving handling. Toyo Proxes T1s is the rubber of choice (225/45-18 for the front, 225/35-18 for the rear).
Stance
The most dramatic changes for Song's S2000 can be found in the suspension department. JIC-Magic FLT-A2 coil-overs replace the stockers and allow for adjustable damping and ride height. Spoon Sports anti-roll bars are outfitted at both ends as are strut tower braces from both Spoon Sports and Cusco. Cusco also supplied its chassis X-brace and floor bars. The floor bars run longitudinally, along the rails of the chassis.
Resistance
Braking upgrades are minimal. The stock 11.8-inch front and 11.1-inch rear rotors are retained but are enhanced with Spoon Sports calipers and pads. Project fluid flows through Spoon Sports brake lines.
Body
Song's S2000 is set apart thanks to optional body mod's courtesy of Honda. He opted for the front lip, side strakes and rear spoiler. The removable hardtop conversion was installed last.
Inside
Besides a Spoon Sports titanium shift knob, the S2000's interior remains stock. Song would like to swap out the seats, but says the tunnel doesn't allow enough clearance.
Ice
Diamond Audio speakers, front and rear, work in conjunction with an Alpine CD/MP3 player and JBL subwoofer.
