Import Alliance kicked off the fifth installment of its annual summer meet at the Nashville Superspeedway. Enthusiasts from all over the country flocked to the Speedway to attend the nation’s largest grassroots-style automotive gathering. Many showed up as early as 4 a.m. to avoid massive lines, and this mad move proved to be worthwhile, as this year general attendance skyrocketed to upwards of 10,500 visitors.

The two-day event kicked off with a massive car meet the first day, with cars parked from the pits all the way out to the track, and closed on the second day with an open track event and awards given to competitors for various “best of” classes. Like every year, the blazing heat and humidity of the South was a concern for attendees, but overcast skies helped to keep the crowd cool. Shaved and tucked engine bays were as popular a modification as ever, and CCW wheels proved to be the wheel of choice for many. A number of legit EK9 CTRs stood out from the thousands of Hondas at IA while a single JDM CM2 Accord wagon captured the collective attention of many enthusiasts (a CM2 chassis is the wagon equivalent of our first-generation Acura TSX—never available Stateside). Seeing one that had an aggressive stance cruising through the Nashville Superspeedway had people in shock and awe.

One of the greatest things about the summer IA meets is the unlimited amount of diversity that exists not only in the cars, but also the crowd. Import fanatics from throughout the nation, even from neighboring Canada, make the trek to Nashville, and it’s a great place to meet others with a common interest. At the close of each day, hotel parties in the surrounding cities popped off with wild antics and nonstop entertainment. We definitely recommend you make the trip out to Nashville for the next Import Alliance summer event; it’s truly the country’s largest automotive social event.
